Item upgrading allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example the perfect roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade and aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition, many weapons have an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a single unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain by itself.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons can also change the stats of their base. This is generally a positive aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. In the case of items that only see use in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can make them unusable unless you get a lucky roll.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to boost their effectiveness. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, it will boost the defense of its base, while a belt and gloves will increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it may reroll to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain when upgrading, as well as the relative values of those stats. This means that a change from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon receiving 33% attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circular arrows within the item menu. This will roll an item and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make all the difference to your survival. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons, fire, and magic. This makes it easier to get through difficult areas. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has, the more value you can get from every point of health you possess and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as often as you can.

To upgrade your armor, go to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them, and each requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After  upgrade item 've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. In general, you'll need at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a large group of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you're able to withstand a rout with friends.

It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to focus on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power in the case of Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also unlock some advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll generally want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game. For example the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have some upgrades for the chest armor and helmets to let you sneak around some monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that when consumed by the player, provide the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five different types of potions, each with particular effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, increasing their level of effect. Alternatively the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust the potions.

Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP, which can be earned by making them using a craft table or in the Alchemist's chest. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion as well as the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.

To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. The table of potions is arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as potion of leaping, decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket is a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to an object or decoration that serves a purpose, but isn't particularly significant, such as a trinket. Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer needed and allows players to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their top-priority items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are upgraded first before their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment they will not replace in the near future (such as rings or cloaks). When deciding the items to upgrade, players must also take into account the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.

When they are no longer useful trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket has an additional bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still cheaper than buying a new one.
